IV Therapy and Insurance Billing Policy-
IV therapy, chelation and nutritional therapies, do not meet the criteria for “medical necessity” which is the operative word. Medical necessity must withstand peer review (documentation in medical journals based on research), be a FDA approved medication, must have a valid NDC number, and drug name. All criteria must be met.
We will work with the patient regarding insurance billing only two of the following ways:
1] The patient would receive and pay for the IV. We will supply the patient with the billing information and documentation to bill the insurance themselves using their Social Security Number. The insurance check would come to you directly.
2] We will Medicare for denial with intent to bill secondary insurance.
It has been our experience that representatives of insurance companies are often unaware these treatments are classified as experimental and misinforming the patient. It is our intent that all parties should be protected. Review your insurance policy’s exceptions for coverage. We inform all patients at the time of service that IVs do not, in the majority of cases, meet medical necessity. Search our blogs for “Medical Necessity” for more information.
Our prices are set with low overhead and prices cannot be discounted.
